Soft, comfortable quilt with a damask design by British painter and designer Peggy Angus. The damask front is block-printed by artisans in Jaipur. With a cotton and linen-blend reverse. Filled with cotton wadding and hand-quilted.
A friend of Eric Ravilious and Edward Bawden, Peggy Angus was an independent spirit and an inspiring teacher. Though known as a painter, she truly found her element in the 1950s, turning to pattern design: first collaborating with industry on tilework, where she found real success, and later producing her own wallpapers.
Front: 100% linen. Back: 54% linen, 46% cotton. Wadding: 100% cotton.
Made in India.
Printed by hand using a traditional block print. A little unevenness in colour and design is characteristic of this hand process.
