Clay & Connection

Cisco and the Sun unites two studios from across the world, connected by a shared respect for craft, nature, and heritage. Sarah Hendriks and her husband Sam run the ceramics business from Fremantle, Australia, working closely with a team of seventeen makers in rural Cambodia to realise their simple, functional designs.

The clay they use is uniquely mineral rich, with natural qualities which can’t be recreated on Australian shores. “We hope that the slight variances in glaze, the texture of the clay and marks of the maker are a reminder that these pieces came from the earth and are made thoughtfully by hand,” says Sarah. “This can be felt, if you let it. It really is an honour to be able to offer them.”
