Mother-of-pearl buttons from the TOAST Renewal programme add another small trace of the garment’s previous life.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“I wanted the shape to feel fitted but also layered,” says Bethany. “I was particularly interested in layering and rolled hems. The layers represent the complexity of legacy and what we leave behind, and the feeling of different histories sitting together. The artwork is an original painting I created of a still night, where the water reflects traditional Manx fishing boats that my family used to work on, with cows in the surrounding field.
